Deadwood: Insects live, borough
and lay eggs in the dead wood of trees. By allowing
the dead wood to remain in the trees, insects which
are the number one spreaders of funguses; including
oak wilt, anthracnose and sudden oak death, are able
to thrive and kill the trees.
Cracked and overbearing limbs:
By removing cracked and overbearing limbs during
the winter the trees are less likely to have open
wounds and get damaged from wind and storms during
the summer months. Open wounds from cracked
and broken limbs during the summer months attract
the insects and fungi.
Suckers: When there are too
many suckers on a tree, the main structure of the
tree is robbed of the vital nutrients and water it
needs to remain healthy and grow.
